Our son Leo was born in 2013, and between years of farm and janitorial labor before that, my lower back has never really recovered -- I take on extra retail shifts most off-seasons just to help cover his asthma care, which flares up my back further. I still haven't reconciled with my birth family, and honestly I don't think about it as often as I used to. What I have with Ryan and Leo feels more like home than anything I grew up with.
